Music is Art is a Buffalo not-for-profit organization which is dedicated to exploring and reshaping music’s cultural, social and educational impact on the Buffalo community. It supports a number of programs and events, the largest of which is the annual Music is Art Festival. This festival is free, and open to everyone. The festival provides student and amateur performers and artists with an opportunity of presenting their work to the public in the Delaware Park behind the Albright-Knox Gallery.

The 12th annual festival was held on September 13, 2014. Six outstanding CIAS students volunteered their time to help kids of all ages make crafts and decorate baseball caps. The students volunteers are: Jay Fleckenstein, Laura Hoerner, Julia Morris, Kat Pillman, Julia Tuason and Amanda White.

Prof. Carol Fillip is on the Board of Directors of Music is Art and both she and Prof. Lorrie Frear are on the Marketing Committee of this worthwhile organization, which was founded by Robby Takac, Goo Goo Dolls bassist and Buffalo resident. Each year, Carol and Lorrie host the Kids Village Tent, with the greatly appreciated assistance of our great students.
