Professor Deborah Beardslee recently attended the LeadingAge PEAK Leadership Summit in Washington, DC March 18 – 20. Since main components of Professor Beardslee’s current design-related research and scholarship initiatives focus on advocacy related to aging (the elderly) and ability (persons with physical disabilities), this conference (keynotes, educational programming and trade exhibition) was an excellent fit. The PEAK Leadership Summit featured two notable keynote speakers (“Flip!” author Kevin Sheahan, former centrist Maine Senator Olympia Snowe), along with executive education content, nationally renowned speakers, and expert-led strategy sessions. The schedule of events integrated several diverse learning formats to help conference participants more closely interact with thought leaders to learn about new and important policies, developments, initiatives and advocacy related to aging, longevity and inclusivity. The concurrent trade exhibition featured state-of-the art products, services and strategies related to overall conference content and objectives.
